SPONSOR MY DEPENDENT CHILDREN


  • Dependent children: should be under 22 years old and still single.
  • Children 22 years old or older qualify as dependants if they meet both requirements: unable to financially support themselves because of a mental or physical condition AND they have depended on their parents for financial support since before the age of 22.
  • Your dependent children must continue to meet these requirements until Immigration Canada finalize the processing of your application.
Children adopted outside Canada may be sponsored to come to Canada if:
  • They have been legally adopted outside Canada.
  • You meet the requirements of your province or territory.
  • The requirements of the Hague Convention have been met if they apply.
In general, with the Letter of “No Objection from your province or territory”, you can apply to sponsor your child to get the Canadian permanent residence
BASIC REQUIREMENTS TO SPONSOR YOUR SPOUSE, YOUR COMMON-LAW OR CONJUGAL PARTNER AND THEIR DEPENDENT CHILDREN:
To sponsor your dependent children to become permanent residents of Canada, you the sponsor should:
  1. Be at least 18 years old, Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act ;
  2. Be able to provide for the basic needs of any persons you want to sponsor.
  3. gave the financial support you agreed to with immigration Canada when you signed a sponsorship agreement to sponsor someone else in the past.
  4. have paid back (if applicable), an immigration loan or a performance bond.
  5. Not be receiving social assistance for reasons other than a disability.
  6. Not have a court-ordered family support payments such as alimony or child support (not applicable if you live in Quebec).
  7. be discharged from any bankruptcy, if applicable (not applicable if you live in Quebec) ;
