Quebec Investor Program candidates are evaluated based on factors that include education level/areas of training, experience in management, age, language proficiency in French or English, stay and family in Quebec, and the Investment Agreement. The maximum points available are 94 points for applicants with or without a spouse or common-law partner.
Quebec investor program candidates may be invited to a selection interview following a review of their application.
All prospective candidates applying for the Quebec Investor Program are required to fulfill specific prerequisites:
Minimum Net Worth: Applicants must possess a minimum of CAD $2,000,000 in legally acquired net worth. This net worth can be demonstrated either individually or jointly with their spouse or common-law partner if they are accompanying the applicant. Assets considered for evaluation include properties, bank accounts, pension funds, stocks, and shares.
Business or Management Experience: A minimum of two years of management experience within the five years preceding the application submission is mandatory. This experience should have been acquired in a defined enterprise (agricultural, commercial, industrial), a government or international agency, in a position recognized as full-time. It's important to note that the company is not required to be profitable. If the management experience is being claimed as a professional, the company must have had at least two full-time employees, excluding the candidate.
It is admissible for the candidate to be retired at the time of the application submission as long as they can demonstrate a recent two-year management experience within the past five years. The candidate must showcase the ability to plan, supervise, and control financial resources and either human resources or material resources under their authority. Experience obtained through an apprenticeship, training, or specialization process certified by a diploma cannot be considered.
Investment: Agreement to invest a sum of CAD $1,200,000 through an approved financial intermediary is a requisite for the program. Notably, this investment can be financed.
These requirements are put in place to ensure that applicants possess a significant net worth, relevant management experience, and a commitment to the substantial financial investment stipulated by the Quebec Investor Program.
Advantages of the Quebec Investor Program
Investment without risk: The investment of CAD $1,200,000 is guaranteed by the Quebec government and returned in full after five years. Passive investment: No active managerial role is required after the investment is made. Family included in the application: All immediate members of the candidate's family (spouse and dependent children) are included in the application and have the same status as the candidate.
