Canada will be celebrating #WelcomingWeek2023 from September 8-17, with the aim of encouraging Canadians to welcome newcomers and assist them in settling into their new homes.

The annual event, known as Welcoming Week, celebrates and recognizes newcomers, and helps everyone feel like they belong in their community, regardless of their country of origin. According to the Census 2021 data, there are about 8.3 million immigrants in Canada, comprising almost a quarter of the total population. Statistics Canada predicts that the immigrant population will continue to increase, reaching 34% of the population by 2041. The IRCC emphasizes the importance of making newcomers feel welcome, as it directly correlates with their success in integrating and contributing to their communities.
