Pre-Removal Risk Assessment PRRA for Individuals from Ethiopia

657

December 16, 2021 - Individuals from Ethiopia may now be eligible to apply for a pre‑removal risk assessment (PRRA) if they received a final negative decision from the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada or the Federal Court, or a final PRRA decision from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) from December 17, 2020, to December 16, 2021.

If someone's refugee claim or previous application for a PRRA is rejected, abandoned or withdrawn, or if their application for leave or judicial review is dismissed by the Federal Court, they are not eligible to apply for a PRRA for at least 12 months.

Individuals from Ethiopia who receive a final negative decision after December 16, 2021, are not eligible to apply for a PRRA for 12 months..

It is important to note that the eligibility to apply for a PRRA does not guarantee its outcome. IRCC officers will continue to decide on each case individually, based on the information provided.
